IEEE Student and Young Professional Congress will be held in conjunction with the IEEE/YEP Innovation Challenge in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1-4 December 2017.
In a dynamic world, healthcare, food production/processing, renewable energy, transportation and general prosperity are just a few key areas that depend on our ability to innovate. The world is rapidly changing as it becomes more globally interconnected, more mobile and as emerging economies embrace new disruptive technologies. Innovation is a key driver for increasing living standards and quality of life. Many Bosnians & Herzegovinians have successfully demonstrated their ability to innovate and commercialise scientific and engineering research outside of their homeland. However, that entrepreneurial and innovative culture has not yet thrived in the homeland. In an economy that is plagued by political instability and inability to provide employment opportunities for youth, we must innovate to prosper!
Engineers play a critical role in innovation and in improving society. This shall become more important we transition to a high-tech economy. Under the guidance of global innovation experts and industry professionals, you will gain a greater understanding of the innovation cycle in a one day Ideation-Innovation Hackathon.
You will work in teams and use your, inventive, problem solving and analytical skills to make a real and positive impact on society. Innovation and Entrepreneurship entails developing the ability to tackle problems creatively, generating new ideas, taking calculated risks and creating change to achieve your ambitions.
At the end of the day’s activities, all teams will present their innovations to a panel of local and international experts from a variety of sectors, including business angel investors. The top three teams will receive cash prizes and the opportunity to be mentored by industry/innovation experts in order to develop and commercialise their innovations.
